Americana

What I'm wearing:
*Gap Striped Cable Sweater in Navy/White
*Madewell Chambray Button Down
*American Eagle Jegging in Blue
*Forever 21 Sequin Oxfords
*Zara Fur Jacket with Hood
*Foley & Corinna Mini City Tote in Black

I must be color-blind, because I would have sworn up and down that this sweater was black and white, not navy and white until I saw these photos. Which is why I paired this look with black accessories and a grey coat! I still think it works though, even though it's a bit more red, white, & blue than I was planning on.

I think it's now past the point of getting away with having my ankles exposed... too cold for this now.

Still can't believe that it snowed over the weekend! The weather has definitely turned into winter and I am not okay with it. The only small consolation that I have is that I get to wear some cute outerwear. For some reason I'm obsessed with faux-fur trimmed jackets, I just think that they're so warm and cozy looking!

What I'm wearing:
*Diane von Furstenberg Gaby Tunic Cube Arrow Red

*American Eagle Side-Zip Bootie in Black
*anthropologie Felt Flower Barette
*Foley & Corinna Jet Set Bag in Glazed Ruby

Nothing quite like a DVF print to brighten up my day... =)

A Day at the Winery

What I'm wearing:
*Zara White Sweaterdress
*anthropologie "Tawny Acres" Boots
*White Leopard Print Pashmina from street vendor
*Mulberry Alexa Bag in Oak

Visiting a winery in the Hudson River Region was the perfect way to spend a crisp autumn afternoon. Not only was it a way to get a much need respite from the city, but I really enjoyed seeing the fall colors really coming out on the trees! And who doesn't love wine? We got a glimpse of the wine making process, and got to taste several different varieties. I actually don't know that much about wine at all, so it was very interesting to hear an expert's opinion.

Cozy Friday

What I'm wearing:
*Uniqlo Sweater Tunic in Green
*Lululemon Wunder Under Crops in Black Camo
*anthropologie "Tawny Acres" Boots
*Zara Faux Fur Vest
*anthropologie Submerged Necklace
*Gucci Monogram Tote

Happy Friday! So glad that it's the weekend finally, I feel like I've had such a long week, especially being sick the whole time (finally getting better, zpack works miracles) while being slammed at work. But I am really looking forward to the weekend. I decided to go the super casual route today. I love leggings, especially the Lululemon Wunder Under Crops, which are great both for working out and casual wear. They are so comfortable that I have several of the solid black ones, but I love this black camo printed pair. The print is subtle enough that it doesn't scream CAMO! I am not a member of the "leggings as pants" club, but I think as long as your tunic/dress covers all the important bits, you can wear leggings as part of any outfit. This type of sweater tunic was on my fall wishlist, but I really didn't want to spend too much money on it. Luckily I found this particular sweater at Uniqlo, which has really reasonable prices for cute clothing. They had a few other colors, but I told myself I'm not allowed to buy multiples anymore. I definitely feel very cozy today in my sweater, fuzzy vest, and boots. A great way to be comfortable on a Friday!

Black Lace & Stormy Seas

What I'm wearing:
*H&M Black Lace Dress (similar here)
*anthropologie Stormy Seas Necklace in Green
*Taryn Rose Red Patent Criss-Cross Mary Janes
*Forever 21 3/4 Sleeve Coat
*H&M Faux Fur Collar (similar here)

Wearing a lot of black always makes me feel gloom & doom, but I think the bright accessories lightens up the mood of this look a bit. I'm fighting a cold right now, and someone asked me why I 'dressed up' when I'm not feeling great, and I realized that I try to look as put together as possible when I'm sick, so that maybe I can trick my body into feeling better. Not sure if it's working right now, but I'm trying.

Abstract Rose

What I'm wearing:
*J.Crew Abstract Rose "Victoria" Cami
*Martin + Osa High Button Cardigan in Klimt Gold
*H&M Coral Pleated Knit Skirt
*American Eagle Side Zip Bootie in Black
*Rebecca Minkoff "Matinee" Bag in Glazed Almond

Never thought to put these colors together, but as I was unpacking my fall clothes this cardigan was sitting on top of this blouse! That's what I call a happy accident. I'm trying to cut back on my shopping, so it's always great when I re-discover items in my closet that were packed away, out of sight. I love wearing new things (probably a little too much), but now I'm trying harder to get more satisfaction from wearing clothes that I've owned for years, and to be just as excited to wear them as the day that they were purchased. I've mentioned this before, but my closet is miniscule, and sometimes I feel like my clothes are taking over my apartment. Attempting to weed out a donation pile and a pile to sell, so keep a look out for updates!

One Hand In My Pocket

What I'm wearing:
*Uniqlo Boatneck Sweater Tunic
*H&M Striped Button Down Tunic
*Zara Skinny Trousers in Bottle Green
*Nine West "Lucero" Pumps in Wine Patent
*Mulberry "Alexa" Bag in Oak
*Forever 21 Reading Glasses Necklace

Nothing welcomes fall better than a cozy knit sweater. This particular sweater is a bit bulkier than the ones I usually go for, but I think when paired with slim bottoms, it's not as unflattering as I originally thought it would be. Comfort and warmth won me over with this particular tunic. Even though I love the cooler weather that's happening right now, I'm in a bit of denial at the fact that soon it will be freezing cold out and winter will be upon us. Eeep! Do not want to think about that already...

Spring Shadows

What I'm wearing:
*Diane von Furstenberg Spring Shadows Renny Wrap Dress
*Taryn Rose Red Patent Criss-Cross Heels
*Shopsuey Starfish Bracelet in Silver

This is one of my favorite DVF wrap dresses, I love that it can be dressed up to go out in, or toned down to be worn to work. The Spring Shadows print is one that I love so much, that I have two different styles of wrap dresses in it. Not sure if I love the red patent heels with this look, I think it looked better in the mirror in my apartment versus these photos. I hate when that happens, like today I think this looks a lot better with black patent heels, but my photos still have the red. And please excuse the wet hair, I swear it looks a lot better after it dries!

Calm Forest

What I'm wearing:
*Target Merona Tab Waist Ponte Dress in Calm Forest
*H&M Red Bubble Necklace (similar here)
*Sofft Patent Mary Janes in Pewter
*Gucci Monogram Scarf Tote

I'm not really sure if this color really matches what I'd imagine a "calm forest" to look like, and it's kind of an ugly color, but I tend to gravitate towards these kind of olive-y, mustard-y yellow/green, hard to describe kind of shades. This look is definitely an "office" look to me, but I love that the knit dress is still comfortable to wear all day. The one thing I hate is feeling all buttoned-up at work. Back to work after a long and relaxing 3-day weekend...

Chambray and Fur and Suede, Oh My!

What I'm wearing:
*Zara Faux Fur Vest
*Madewell Chambray Shirt
*Zara Skinny Trousers in Burnt Orange
*Christian Louboutin Brown Suede Pumps
*Rebecca Minkoff "Morning After Mini" Bag in Dark Brown
*Chanel Sunglasses

Sometimes an outfit starts off plainly (I originally put on simple black leggings with this look) and then I, never the minimalist, decides that it needs some pizazz. Burnt orange pants are way more fun than black leggings! I had fun with the layering today, this is the perfect weather for it, before it gets too cold and everything is hidden under heavy coats.

That's How Country Boys Roll

What I'm wearing:
*Forever 21 Open Knitted Sweater in Dark Grey
*J.Crew Bubble Necklace in Coral
*J.Brand "Houlihan" Cargo Pants in Vintage Olive
*DV by Dolce Vita "Aisha" Lace-up Boots in Taupe Suede
*Forever 21 Leatherette Drape Jacket (similar in grey here)
*Madewell Plaid Scarf

Fridays are always great, but even better when they're before a long weekend! I don't even have any plans, but the weather is supposed to be great and it's always nice to have an extra day off. After a long week, I feel like I need this badly! Just went for a casual look today, I've been looking for a cozy sweater like this for a while, but didn't want to spend too much so was happy to find this grey one at F21. To run further with the casual look I paired it with my skinny cargos. These pants are not the most flattering, but they're pretty comfortable!

Last night I was lucky enough to attend the CMA Songwriter Series performance, which I've been to before and always enjoyed. It was a great show, especially since Billy Currington was singing as well! I love country music, even though most people can't believe that I do. I blame my time spent in Nashville, the country music capital of the world. I'd never listened to a country song until I moved there, and now I'm obsessed. And as a huge Billy Currington fan, it was very exciting to hear him sing live with just a guitar, and even get to meet him afterwards! A few years ago in Nashville I had seen Billy perform with Shania Twain when the Today Show was in town, which meant I woke up at 5am to see him. Luckily the show last night was at a reasonable hour.

And for your listening pleasure.... a few of my favorite Billy Currington songs:
-That's How Country Boys Roll
-Good Directions
-People are Crazy

Pumpkin Spice

What I'm wearing:
*H&M Orange Knit Dress
*anthropologie Looping Lanes Belt
*Forever 21 Chunky Turquoise Necklace
*Rachel Comey "Mars" Boots in Leopard
*Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy 30

The color orange just screams fall to me! Reminds me of the leaves changing color... and pumpkins... which makes me think of pumpkin spice lattes. Although I haven't had one yet this season. This has definitely got to change!
