Snow Day Cardigan

What I'm wearing:
Forever 21 Snow Day Hooded Cardigan
Old Navy Tank
J.Crew (outlet) Knit Skirt in Ochre (similar here)
Black H&M Tights
anthropologie Cherry Picked Boots (similar here)

I am so over winter. I can't wait to wear dresses without tights, lightweight trenches, wedge sandals and so much more. But until spring comes, this cozy hooded cardigan from Forever 21 will keep me toasty, and it makes me smile to know that it only cost $9 on sale! (Cute bargains warm my heart.)

The navy and white sweater needed some pops of color, so I decided to go with an ochre skirt and cherry red boots, which definitely perk up the darker shade. This cardigan is also perfect for just lounging around the apartment, watching the Winter Olympics (figure skating is my fave!), paired with leggings and slippers.

Winter Lace

What I'm wearing:
Forever 21 Vintage Tribute Woven Top (similar here)
Old Navy Tank
anthropologie Fulmar Sweater Skirt
H&M Tights
Frye Dorado Slouch Boots (similar here)

I love that this lace top has a lovely romantic quality to it, the pale lace, the flowy sleeves, the floral design within the lace. I picked up this top from Forever 21 when I was still in Atlanta, but I had no idea what to pair it with. I do enjoy the juxtaposition of the lace with the sweater skirt, which is adorned with birds.

I have a few items on their way to me, but besides that I am really trying to cut down on my shopping. It's always fun to have new stuff but I know without a doubt that I just have too many material possessions. I am pleased that today I paired a new top with a skirt from 2008 and boots from 2007. I have tried unsuccesfully before but am now avowing on the platform that is my blog that I will make a strong effort to try and stop buying items that I don't need, and only purchase items that will enhance what I already have in my closet. It sounds more real if I post it here than just telling it to myself in my head. =)

A Walk in the Park

What I'm wearing:
anthropologie Rosemary Dress
Uniqlo Herringbone Tights (similar here)
Steve Madde Intyce Boots in Cognac
Orange Martin + Osa Mercerized Wool Scarf (similar here)
Burberrry Wool Coat
New York & Co. Bow Tote (similar here)

Had another fun day with the sister yesterday, so sad that she had to go home! It was a great long weekend though, filled with good eats, museum going, and fun shopping. Yesterday we walked through Central Park, the weather was lovely and there was still lots of snow covering the ground. I braved the cold and decided to take my wool coat off to take an outfit photo. It was really cold!!! I remembered why I stopped snapping pics outside. I wish I wore a nicer pair of boots, but these beat up Steve Maddens are so comfortable, perfect for lots of walking around like we did yesterday. And I don't mind stepping into slushy puddles with them on!

Fun jumping shot from the park!

Vintage Rose

What I'm wearing:
J.Crew Merino Rose Corsage Cardigan in Vintage Rose
LOFT Paisley Jersey knit tank dress
black tights
anthropologie Tawny Acres boots
Botkier Trigger Clyde Satchel

Pink is not a color I reach for often, but once in awhile it can totally brighten up my day. Love this "vintage rose" color from J.Crew, I know it has a bit of a grandma feel to it but I find it feminine and flirty. This jersey knit dress was my steal from LOFT ($3!!), I packed it for my stay at my parents' house because I knew I could layer any one of a bazillion possible cardigans over it. I think the vintage pink does a nice job of brightening up the darker print. This outfit is a teensy bit too saccharine for me, but it made me happy which is important, right?

Pulled this old Botkier Clyde satchel out of hiding. I love the hunter green color, and the distressed leather that just seems to get better with time. Bought this ages ago with my sister at Neiman Marcus Last Call for a steal. We just couldn't walk away from it!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend! Today we went out for brunch, I had the most delicious pumpkin pancakes. (I love anything pumpkin flavored.) My sister got french toast, another favorite of mine, so of course I had to steal a couple of bites. Yum!

I Can't Believe It's a Snow Day

Maybe it's because I grew up in New Jersey, where inches of snow didn't necessarily guarantee a school closing, maybe just a delayed opening if we were lucky. And I just came from Maryland, where a couple of weeks ago we were hit by one of the biggest blizzards in recent history. So I was not really expecting a school closing. Anyways, let's just say that all Atlanta schools shut down at the mere suggestion that it might snow. (Pansies.) Therefore we are off to the mall today!

What I'm wearing:
J.Crew Tartine Cardigan in Navy
Madewell Plaid top
J.Crew Cotton Nico skirt
black tights
anthropologie Sweater-Cuffed Booties
Rebecca Minkoff Matinee bag in Glazed Almond
J.Crew hat (only $7!)

Am excited to go check out anthropologie, J.Crew, Forever 21, etc. Maybe stop by get some Zaxby's, some frozen yogurt. A snow day isn't so bad!

Here is my sister frolicking in the frozen tundra with Louis!

Can I add that I was planning on wearing my Tawny Acres boots today with my outfit, but Teresa put hers on first. So I conceded and am wearing my Sweater-Cuffed booties again.

Great Escape

What I'm wearing:
J.Crew Wool Schoolboy Blazer
aerie Striped Boatneck Tee
anthropologie Great Escape Skirt
Target cable-knit thigh high socks
anthropologie Sweater-Cuffed Booties

I felt a little silly taking these photos. I feel like I am taking a photo for the senior yearbook, right next to the mantel! Oh well the lighting was perfect here, I really love how there is so much sunlight at my parents' house.

The bright skirt is an attempt at denial at the cold weather outside. The name is appropriate, I think of it as a Great Escape! It is so bright and cheery and it makes me smile. The cable knit thigh highs kept me pretty warm but they kept falling down. FAIL. Guess I should stick to tights from now on.

Scored these ankle boots on sale at anthropologie! I love them, they are so comfortable and I feel like they will go with a ton of what I wear, and comfort is key.

After seeing these photos I feel like something is missing from my outfit. I feel like a big anchor pendant would have been a nice finishing touch. Unfortunately my things are scattered everywhere! I really need to be better organized when packing.

Right now I am just relaxing in the quiet house, enjoying a cup of coffee, and watching "You've Got Mail" on television. Not my favorite Meg Ryan movie, but it's nice to have in the background.

Argyle With a Twist

What I'm wearing:
J.Crew (outlet) white button down shirt
J.Crew Argyle sweater dress
anthropologie studded belt
Target thigh high socks
Same Edelman Dupree Lace-up Boot in Brown (black available here)

Sorry for the lack of updates! The snow has kept my wardrobe pretty functional but not quite cute. This argyle sweater dress is pretty cozy, especially layered with sweater tights and boots with fuzzy insides. I am such a sucker for argyle. I like it on sweaters, socks, scarves, anything. You can't see in this photo, but the bottom part of my Target socks are argyle! I always planned on wearing this dress with a collared shirt underneath, but felt that it was a tad too expected. Decided that adding a studded belt and lace-up boots decreased the stuffiness level of this dress just a little bit.

Love these lace-up boots. Mine are from NM Last Call, but they are still available in black at freepeople.com. Even with a heel, these boots are so comfortable it feels like they are flat ones.

You can see that there is still plenty of snow piled up outside. I have only started driving my car today, and *ugh* my neighborhood roads are absolutely horrendous. It's times like this I miss my SUV with 4-wheel drive! But at least for now the snow is pretty and white, maybe it will be a White Christmas after all!

Swan Lake

What I wore:
anthropologie Leifsdottir Museum-of-Modern-Birds sweater dress
black Hue tights
anthropologie Cherry Picked Boots
black/white J.Crew (outlet) herringbone coat
black New York & Company Bow Tote

Ok, seriously, I know. Another bird item??? To be honest swans (in real life) terrify me. Everytime I see them I shudder, they are creepy! But in illustrated form, they are pretty beautiful. I bought both of these items while I was working at anthropologie last fall! I wanted this dress so, so bad but of course since it was Leifsdottir it was still super pricey, even with my discount. So finally I waited and it went on sale! Made me a very happy girl. These boots were also a steal since I bought them during their big boot sale last year. I think they add a nice pop to my black and white coat! I love this coat, my mother and sister scored it for me a few years ago at a Black Friday sale at the outlets, and I adore it.

How is everyone's Christmas shopping going? I am almost done with my list!! Trying really hard not to be such a last minute shopper this year. And also trying not to shop for myself!!!!

Toasty Warm from Head to Toe

I kind of feel like a hot mess right now. Probably because I had a really hard time deciding what to wear today, so I kinda just put on all my favorite items. All at once. So it is a bit over the top but I am warm and cozy! I'm wearing a cardigan, a sweater skirt, AND sweater thigh highs. All J.Crew has to do is slap some ruffles and rosettes on something and I'm all over it. It's a disease. They will probably name it after me after I overdose on ruffles and rosettes.

Loooooove ruffles.

I'm squinting because the sun was shining directly into my face! Argh. Also the cause for the colors and details to be washed out a bit. This is what I get for getting dressed early!

What I'm wearing:
Martin + Osa Essential Cashmere cardigan in a purple from a previous season
J.Crew Ruffles & Roses Tissue tank in Ivory
anthropologie Fulmar sweater skirt
anthropologie Snake Bit belt in Grey
grey Target thigh high socks
anthropologie Tawny Acres boots

Easy Peasy Work Outfit

What I'm wearing:
Martin + Osa Oversized V-neck Sweater in Mitten Blue
black Hue Skinny Leggings
Anthropologie Tawny Acres boots
Martin + Osa scarf

This is what I wore to work the other day. Sorry for the indoor mirror shot, it was too dark to take a better one in my normal spot. Look familiar? Of course, I own this sweater in 3 colorways. It is just *too* easy to wear with leggings and boots. And aren't these boots amazing? After seeing my sister's pair, I knew I had to have them!

It is *snowing* in Maryland!!!!!!!!! Of course, today is the day I actually have to drive into DC for my Holiday Tea. It was worth the drive though, it was so much fun. More on that and photos of my tea outfit coming soon.

It's a Saturday night but I'm snowed in, I may post some reviews of some recent buys and post some pics!

Quelqu'un M'a Dit

What I'm wearing:
charcoal J.Crew turtleneck sweater (looks black in these pics though)
floral silk Anthropologie skirt
mustard yellow socks from Target
Target Kamaria ankle boots
coat stolen from my sister's closet, Korean?

It's a rainy day in Atlanta.... it's been raining ALL DAY. Which is why I tried to take better photos of my outfit but the lighting is horrible all around. So you'll have to settle for this boring background again.

I love rainy days when I don't really have to do anything! Didn't have any plans for today, but this morning I took a practice GRE exam. (Bah, not so much fun). Then my mother and I went out for some yummy Korean food (soondooboo and naengmyun / spicy tofu stew and cold buckwheat noodles) which is always something I love to do. Then of course to delay being out in the rain some more we stopped by the bakery and enjoyed lattes, split a croissant, and snacked on some macaroons. Lovely. =)

Aren't these booties so fun?

I think that they don't look that bad for only being $30. Love the color too! I figured for such a trendy boot, I'd go for the save vs. splurge. Love that they are military inspired.

Hello November!

Wow, I can't believe it's already November. Time has been flying by this year!

Picked up this great sheer crepe ruffle tee at Martin + Osa yesterday, there is a promotion going on this weekend (ending tonight) where all blouses and tops are 50% off! I thought it would be a great layering piece. I like it tucked into skirts, but also on it's own paired with a pair of slim jeans. Also snagged this anthropologie skirt on sale. The sweater coat is from M+O as well, it's on sale now and I had to buy it in both this oatmeal color and black! I love it. So comfortable and warm, and a great alternative to a jacket if I'm going out and don't want to lug one around.

What I'm wearing:
burgundy Martin + Osa sheer crepe ruffle tee
oatmeal Martin + Osa ribbed cardigan coat
anthropologie sweater skirt
brown anthropologie Snake Bite belt
brown Sam Edelman lace-up boots

As you can tell by the photos, I've picked up a new digital camera! I decided I'd stick to re-buying a Canon Powershot, since I loved my old one so much! Except this time I bought it in a delightful bright aqua color! Sorry they aren't that great of quality, it is raining and nasty outside and I haven't really figured out my new camera perfectly yet.
Yesterday was Halloween! I like dressing up for theme parties and such, but I've never really been a fan of Halloween. But I dressed up as a school girl last night (cheesy and tacky I know, but I had a plaid skirt from ages ago, and it was easy to put the rest of the outfit together) and went out to our local bar and had a great time dancing to a fun band! It wasn't too crazy of a night, but I had my fill of espresso martinis.

Today I woke up at an ungodly hour (thank you daylight savings!) and went out to breakfast.... brunch may possibly be my favorite part of the weekend. Bloody Marys and Eggs Chesapeake (where there is crab cake instead of the ham in Eggs Benedict) may be exactly what I'd want to eat for breakfast every day in heaven. Now I'm relaxing for a bit, then off to work and I'm starting a Princeton Review GRE class today! Not really that exciting, but a necessary evil.

Hope everyone had a great Halloween weekend!

Day vs. Night, and goodbye to an old friend

I had the day off today, which pretty much meant that I slept in as long as I could, then headed to the gym (finally). Then I decided to run some errands (aka go shopping). This is what I wore while out earlier today!

What I'm wearing:
J.Crew (outlet) Victoria cami
Martin + Osa cashmere v-neck sweater
Martin + Osa marine rinse bootcut jeans
Taryn Rose black pumps

I really loved this silk top/sweater combination so much I decided to keep it on tonight for my date tonight. =) The top has grey and gold in it, and the sweater is a medium toned purple. I think it has a bit more pink in it than this photo shows.

For night I switched up the jeans and pumps for:
Seven for All Mankind denim mini
black tights
Gucci booties

Da booties:

Not up to anything exciting tonight, just going out to dinner. I could really eat a good steak right now.... mmmmmm.

I have bad news to report, my camera died a sad, terrible death today. I dropped it while trying to take a photo of this anthropologie dress! This is the very last photo my dear camera took. (And oh my I am pasty!!!!) [ETA: I ended up returning this dress. I will never wear it!!!]

I'm not too upset about it though, I have been thinking I needed one for awhile. I've had my Canon Powershot since I was in college, and it's fallen on many, many of the floors of Nashville bars. And DC. And Annapolis. At least the back deck of our house is a nice place to go.

Clad in Plaid...

What I'm wearing:
Martin + Osa plaid shirt
American Eagle faux fur vest
Martin + Osa boyfriend jeans
Ciao Bella lace up booties

Just a quick outfit snap! I love this plaid shirt, so cozy and comfortable. The boyfriend jeans have gotten a LOT of love recently, which is why they are pretty stretched out but I'm still wearing them. They may not be the most flattering but they are the most amazingly comfortable jeans ever.

Off to work.... today's been a long day (going to the dentist again, flying home, now off to work) but I'm off tomorrow! Can't wait.
