To Die By Your Side, Would Be a Heavenly Way to Die

What I'm wearing:
*Blue Zara Button Down (similar here)
*J.Crew Toothpick Ankle Cords in Dark Charcoal (similar here)
*anthropologie In-Flight Jacket (similar here and here)
*MICHAEL Michael Kors Townsend Oxfords (similar here and here)
*Michael Kors Oversized Black Watch (similar here)

Today is definitely one of those grey gloomy days. I would have posted earlier but I was meeting a friend for lunch (and a glass of wine!). To be honest this is not a look that I normally wear. I usually don't like wearing pants, but this kind of weather made it a necessity, especially because I don't feel like wearing tights. I figured I'd give these toothpick ankle cords another spin before they get put away for the spring/summer. This Zara button down is Sophia's, and she always looked so cute in it so I decided I'd try it out too! Even though I am really not used to tucking stuff in, I always feel like I will come undone any second. But I did really like the way it looked, especially with my In-Flight Jacket layered on top.

I thought that these Townsend Oxfords were a funky twist on a current trend. I love the lucite layer in the platform, I think it's different and fresh!

Black is the New Black

What I'm wearing:
*Black Zara Dress (similar here)
*Blue MICHAEL Michael Kors Platform Sandals (similar here and here)
*Michael Kors Black Oversized Watch (similar here)

So, even if you have only read my blog a couple of times, you probably have noticed that I love color and prints. I know a lot of people like wearing black, but it feels so morbid to me when I wear black head to toe. Unfortunately the uniform at my new part-time position is all black, including shoes. I don't own that many all black clothes!!! Lucky for me, my sister does. This dress is out of her side of the closet. And I decided that this would indeed be the worst post in the world if I just wore this black dress with my black patent flats. So I paired it with these MMK sandals that I would wear if in an ideal world, I could wear whatever shoes I wanted. Oh, and black is so hard to photograph details of! And after seeing these photos, I decided to put in my Gum Paste earrings to add some fun, which can be seen here.

I absolutely *love* the color of these sandals. I don't think I have any shoes in this color and I was happy to find these in the bag of shoes that my sister got for me! The platform makes them surprisingly comfortable.

I would much rather be wearing one of these great dresses with these sandals instead today:

Happy Monday! Hope everyone has a great start to their week!

Heads Carolina, Tails California

What I'm wearing:
*H&M Striped Knit Jacket (similar here and here)
*Yellow Laundry by design Dress (similar here)
*Gold BCBG Flats
*Forever 21 Giraffe Necklace (similar here)
*Michael Kors Horn Jet Set Watch

I used to hate black & gold together, since it always reminded me of a bumblebee, but it is a color combination that has definitely grown on me (it is also my alma mater's colors!). This jacket also reminds me of Beetlejuice but that is a different issue altogether. It is *just* not yet warm enough to wear skirts and dresses without tights, but I just can't bring myself to wear them. I am about to pack them up for good. I love tights, but after a long cold winter of wearing them almost daily, I'm willing to shiver for the next couple of weeks until it warms up for good. [Edit: ok, I take it back, today it is definitely warm enough to go bare legged!!! Gorgeous day outside.]

I don't know what it is with me and animal motifs in prints and jewelry, but they delight me to no end. Like this giraffe pendant from Forever 21. I love the long chain but also think it would look cute on a slightly shorter one as well.

* * * * *

These are two of my recent anthro bargain scores from their sale! This is actually a pitcher for creamer and a little thing for sugar, but I decided to re-delegate them to holding my brushes/pencils and my rings. I think they add a little fun to my dresser top, and I love the light minty color. [anthropologie Produce Stand Creamer and Sugar Set, both are on sale for $3.95].

I Won't Worry My Life Away...

What I'm wearing:
*H&M Striped Tee (similar here and here)
*Martin + Osa Swing Coat in Orange (similar here)
*J Brand Skinny Crops in Ink (similar here)
*MICHAEL Michael Kors Griffith Quarter in Dark Camel Vachetta (similar here)
*Forever 21 Glasses Pendant (similar here)
*Michael Kors Oversized Black Watch

This brunch outfit was completely inspired by what my friend K wore last night when we met up for drinks. She was wearing a darling yellow jacket paired with a striped tee underneath, and while I don't have a cute yellow jacket, I remembered I had this bright orange one!

<3 this necklace!

I was a little chilly in this, so I threw my huge grey cashmere scarf on over it and I was fine. Although I was wishing that my jacket had long sleeves! I have so many jackets that are 3/4 sleeves, and am not really sure of the point of them.

This was a pretty simple outfit but I feel like the shoes definitely make the look! This pair of MMK shoes definitely remind me of a pair of Pradas that I checked out once but couldn't afford even at the sale price. These aren't my typical style, but my sister totally scored at the Michael Kors sample sale and snagged a ton of shoes for me at a great price! (Yay for being a size 6). So look forward to a bunch of new shoes in my outfits!

P.S. I saw that the romper I wore on Tuesday is on the website now! It's called the "Safari Romper" and here it is! See it on me here.

My Middle Name's Still Risk

What I'm wearing:
*anthropologie Tranquil Flow Tunic in Green
*Hue Skinny Leggings
*Michael Kors Morgen Platform Sandal in Black
*anthropologie Gum Paste Earrings (similar here)
*Michael Kors Horn Jet Set Watch

I was pleasantly surprised with this sale top from anthropologie! I know that this sort of ochre color can be very hit or miss, but I love the print, and the asymmetrical ruffle. And it's the perfect length to wear with leggings! Always a plus in my book.

I forgot to take a closeup of my earrings but these are the Gum Paste earrings from anthro, they were only $10 on sale! I love them!

I pretty much spent the majority of today bumming around in comfy jeans and a fleece, but I'm wearing this to meet a friend for drinks tonight, hope everyone has a great weekend~
