My Boyfriend's Back

What I'm wearing:
*anthropologie Lift Off Jacket (similar here)
*Forever 21 Sequin Sweater (similar here)
*Martin + Osa Boyfriend Jeans (similar here)
*Bandolino Black Patent Flats (similar here)
*Gap Canvas & Leather-Trimmed Satchel
*Michael Kors Oversized Black Watch

So I'll be honest. I wore this on a lazy Sunday this past weekend, but was hesitant about posting this outfit on the blog. It's definitely a lot more laid back than my normal outfits, I felt very stumpy wearing flats, and I just didn't feel polished! But I do think it was an easy outfit for eating brunch, walking around the city, and window shopping.

I am absolutely in love with this sequin embellished sweater from Forever 21. It reminded me a lot of the J.Crew Sequin Studio Sweatshirt but only cost $20 compared to the $168 that J.Crew is charging. I love the raglan shirt style, and the heather grey and pale pink combination keeps it feminine and flirty, just the way I like it.

I like these boyfriend style jeans on everyone else, and got a great deal on these while working at Martin + Osa (man I miss that store!) but I don't think these are for me. They are really comfy, but I don't think they are flattering on people with shorter legs like me. Sometimes I think I like what I see in the mirror, and then a photograph makes me change my mind. That's the beauty of clothes though, if you don't love it, you can always change into something else.

  1. I really like seeing you in more casual gear. The sparkly sweatshirt is my favorite. I am thinking about DIY-ing myself one soon... It would be a fun project to do with my daughter, I think. And I could always hand the fabric paints over to my son so he could DIY a sweatshirt too.

  2. I think the ensemble works. Even if it's more dressed down than your usual garb, it's still pulled together unlike the sweats and tshirt I captured from either my dad or an uncle so many years ago that I can't read the logo anymore.

  3. i love the boyfriend jeans look -- perfect way to be comfortable and chic at the same time! maybe pairing it with a pair of pumps would've helped you feel more glam?

either way, love the look on you!

  4. You're making me crave a sequin top in a bad, bad way. I think I will go browse through j crew now.

  5. I'm glad you posted this because you still managed to make casual look good.

I've been on the hunt for some boyfriend jeans, but I agree that it is a hard look for us shorter-legged gals. I think it helps to wear heels with them.

  6. What about wearing a small heel with your outfit to make you feel less stumpy?

  7. I actually think you wear the boyfriend jeans well because you have lean legs! But a more fitted jean would definitely be more conducive to making you look taller, haha! That's the curse of having short legs -- like how I LOVE the cropped pants look, but they always make me look so stumpy. :(

  8. Rosa, I think you look great! Boyfriend jeans are a mess on me because I carry weight in my legs but you pull them off fabulously.

    I adore that bag too.

  10. I couldn't disagree with you more - I don't think either the flats or the jeans make you look "stumpy". I love that look on you and especially the sequined top! I'm so jealous ~ when did you get it? I'm wondering if they're still in stores or if this was something you bought a while ago. So so cute! - Susan

  12. I am tall and still can't make this style of jean work on me! I think you look darling, though.

  13. I LOVE the sequins paired with boyfriend jeans and a laid back jacket. SO jealous that you can wear a jacket =( It was 107 degrees today, blah.

  14. I quite like this look! I don't think you should give up on the boyfriend jeans at all. You're working it!

  15. Aww, I love this outfit on you. The jeans fit perfectly, and the sequins look great with your jacket. I wish I had bought that sweatshirt when it first came out!

  16. Same! I love this outfit on you too! I actually bought a pair of skinny boyfriend jeans from the Gap this year. They're not as baggy as regular boyfriend jeans and make my legs look lean and long. Maybe that's something you would enjoy...

  17. This look may be casual, but you've shown how patent and sequins can work even in the most casual ways. Nicely played!
