Into the Frying Pan

What I'm wearing:
*J.Crew Sanur Convertible Dress in Navy (similar here and here)
*Matt Bernson Barrucuda Studded Sandals (similar here and here)
*anthropologie Double Torsade Necklace in Mint (similar here and here)
*Michael Kors Skorpios Ring Tote

I was pretty busy yesterday since I got back yesterday, and was unable to take better outfit photos. Luckily, my friend K snapped this quick shot of me while we were walking to a college alumni event at Frying Pan. I've never been, so I was excited to go, and the weather could not have been more perfect. I love boats, and the Frying Pan is one giant boat! You could also see sailboats sailing around the Hudson River and I realized how much I miss sailing.

This dress is pretty much a glorified swimsuit coverup. You can convert it to a longer strapless dress (I folded the top over right now) or wear it as a longer skirt. I think I wasn't ready to let go of my beach mentality after this weekend, so this was my way of refusing to come back to reality. =)

Back in the City

What I'm wearing:
*American Eagle Floral Tank (similar here)
*J.Brand Houlihan Cargos (similar here and here)
*Bolo Tan Wedges (similar here and here)

Finally back in NYC today! This is what I wore to fly back today from Atlanta. I usually don't wear heels while flying, but these wedges didn't fit in my carry on! So on my feet they went. The Houlihans are as comfy as ever, and the lightweight tank is great for the summer. I sometimes feel a little too "military-ish" while wearing these, but I think the feminine tank balances it out some.

I had a great time relaxing in Atlanta, and had SO much fun with my girlfriends in Charleston for C's bachelorette weekend. It was a little of everything - laying out on the beach (the water was so warm, I loved it!), taking a dip in the pool, eating lots of yummy food, going out, pretty much just enjoying the weekend with some great people I haven't seen in ages.

The bridal shower spread, Chick-fil-A as requested by the bride-to-be!

Relaxing by the beach. My hair is a hot mess, I was just trying to keep it from blowing all around.

C & i out for her bachelorette! (I decided to wear this Ella Moss dress instead). There were seriously 4 other bride-to-bes out and about in Charleston that night!

The house we were staying in had a screened in porch, perfect for winding down by playing cards and drinking a few cold ones.

The cutie that was waiting back for me in Atlanta!

What I'm Going to Wear: Friend's Bachelorette Party!

What I'm wearing:
*Costello Tagliapietra for Uniqlo Dress
*Matt Bernson Barracuda Studded Sandals

I am totally late to the party but I decided I needed to check out the Costello Tagliapietra collaboration at Uniqlo. I loved a lot of stuff, but this dress was what caught my eye the most. It's pretty much a tank dress with some flappy fabric on the side, with a fabric tie. It is super lightweight and comfortable, and I thought it would be an easy dress to wear for a night out. It was also recommended that flats be worn, since apparently the cobblestones of Charleston may not be the safest for the heel-wearing (especially while drinking). I was almost tempted to pair the dress with the ubiquitous Tangled Treasure Sandals, but then I unearthed these Matt Bernson studded flats that I bought last summer and decided they'd be perfect.

I wasn't really sure how to tie this dress. I'm sure that I'm dong it wrong. I think I like it best with the bow tied in the back.

Here are some items that you can create a similar look with!

What I'm Going to Wear: Friend's Bridal Shower

Since I'll be out of town for the weekend in Charleston, I decided to take some photos of a couple of outfits that I had planned while I was re-organizing my bag. Is that weird? I think it's a little weird to take outfit of the day photos ahead of time, but it was easy to snap them indoors.

What I'm wearing:
*anthropologie Ipanema Dress
*Bolo Tan Cork Wedges
*Loeffler Randall for Target Cream Woven Clutch

This is what I'll be wearing to my friend's bridal shower tonight! I am so excited that so many of my friends from college will be getting together. I figured this summery frock was perfect for a warm summer night. The wedges that I'm wearing I re-discovered in my parents' home, and they are amazingly comfortable. They will definitely be coming home with me to New York.

Here are some other cute dresses that would be perfect for a bridal shower!

Lanai Breezes Shift from anthro
How darling is this floaty print? Perfect for a bridal shower by the sea.

Summer Wheat Dress from Modcloth
Love the sunny color of this dress, it's bright without being *too* bright. The ruffle detail along the neckline and embroidery on the hem is darling as well!

Halter Dress from eDressMe
This halter dress in a bright shade will brighten up any event. I find it very feminine and flirty, and seems appropriate for the warmer months.

....and last but not least Happy Birthday to my lovely sister, Sophia! =) Sorry I can't be there today but I'm sure you will have a great time celebrating.

Nautical Themed Pashmina Afghan

What I'm wearing:
*Taylor Striped Nautical Dress (similar here and here)
*Bolo Tan Cork Wedges (similar here)

This is how I packed light for my weekend trip: pack for Charleston, and rely on clothes left behind at my parents' house to dress myself while at home. So of course I had to peek into my mom's closet, where I found this adorable ensemble dress. Of course I am obsessed with all things striped and nautical inspired, so I had to borrow it. I love the shiny buttons too!

The title of my post comes from the funny "I'm On a Boat" video by Lonely Island featuring T-Pain! Am I the only one that found it completely hilarious? Love the Navy version as well.

Midnight Train to Georgia

What I'm wearing:
*anthropologie Slouchy Peasant Top (similar here and here)
*H&M Destroyed Boyfriend Cut-off Denim Shorts (similar here)
*anthropologie Tangled Treasure Sandals
*MICHAEL Michael Kor Hamilton Tote in Luggage (similar here)

For long-time readers of my blog, this background should be familiar! I arrived today in Atlanta and am just hanging out in my parents' home. I am off to Charleston this weekend though for one of my sorority sisters' bachelorette celebration. I am so excited to see friends I haven't seen in awhile, and celebrate my friend C getting married!! I've never been to Charleston before, so I'm pretty darn excited.

This outfit is what I wore to fly in. My flight was the perfect storm of awful flights. Not only were there two crying babies, there were also two very loud talkers (I'm sure you know exactly who I'm talking about). I don't fault the babies at all, it's not really their fault and I'm sure they are uncomfortable, but to the loud talkers, please be more considerate of other people around you! The only upside was that I scored an aisle seat pretty up front in the plane, so I bolted as soon as I could. This outfit was pretty comfortable for the plane ride. I was nervous that the shorts would make me cold on the plane, but it was  warm enough that I didn't have any issues. I also learned today that the MK Hamilton Tote is a great bag for travelling. I seriously stuffed everything I needed in there, and had room to spare. It's also super easy to just toss over your shoulder with the extra strap.

Extra Olives Please!

What I'm wearing:
*J.Crew Victoria Knit Cami in Spicy Olive (similar here and here)
*J.Crew (outlet) Polka Dot Cotton Skirt (similar here)
*Thrifted Gold Woven Buckle on Tan Belt (similar here)
*Chie Mihara Sandals (similar here)
*Rebecca Minkoff Matinee in Glazed Almond (similar here)

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I know I did for sure, birthdays are always fun. This outfit is what I wore yesterday for dinner and shopping with my little sister. Her birthday is this Friday, and I'm going to be out of town, so I treated her to a yummy meal at Hecho en Dumbo.

It's been so hot out that I couldn't layer anything over the knit ruffle top. Every time I've put a cardigan on recently I have had to take it off as soon as I hit the outdoors. Anyone else feel this way? Or am I just a sweaty hot mess on my own? Also, one of the downfalls of summer are the mosquitos! I layed out on a lawn this weekend and now I have about a million bites on my legs... it takes every ounce of self control I have to not scratch at them...

Brand New Day

What I'm wearing:
*H&M Floral Babydoll Dress (similar here)
*Appepazza Parma Sandal in Camel (similar here)
*Botkier Clyde Bag in Forest Green (similar here)

Ever since I read somewhere a very long time ago that nude colored shoes make your legs look longer, I've been on the search for my perfect nude shoe. I think these slingbacks may be it!

This floaty floral number was on sale at H&M for $10! I wasn't really sure about it when I bought it earlier this year, probably because there was snow on the ground, but it is perfect for those slightly cooler summer days. I kind of feel like a hippie flower child in it.

Happy Friday everyone!

One Foot In & One Foot Back

What I'm wearing:
*Forever 21 Polka Dot Ruffle Tank
*Madewell Cobalt Cotton Twill Blazer (similar here and here)
*Old Navy Tiered Ruffle Skirt (similar here and here)
*Vintage Kissing Mice Belt
*Aldo Maune Suede Lace-up Wedges (similar here)
*Loeffler Randall for Target Cream Woven Clutch (similar here and here)

Wore this out to dinner for my friend Stephanie's birthday! We went to this great Italian place where on Wednesday night you get to drink free wine with any entree. So naturally since her birthday fell on a Wednesday we decided this was the place for us.

This polka dot ruffle tank was a cheap find from Forever 21 that my sister somehow found in the cluster-f that can be that store. I love ruffles and I love polka dots, so of course I had to borrow this! Decided to pair it with some oldie but goodie pieces from my closet. The skirt was a bargain from Old Navy, and the Madewell blazer I waited out for a sale (when it did there was only one left and it was my size!).

YUM: Vanessa's Dumpling House

The other day M & i headed from Brooklyn into Manhattan to check out Vanessa’s Dumpling House on the Lower East Side. One of Matt’s co-workers had recommended it saying it was a great place to eat, what else, some dumplings! Now, I really love dumplings, so I was extremely excited to check this place out. The co-worker specifically recommended the sesame pancake sandwich, so of course I had to try it out. $2.25 for a peking duck sesame pancake sandwich is such a great deal, and the pork & scallion dumplings were super cheap as well. Approximately $10 for two people to eat a yummy and filling lunch is a major bargain, especially in New York City.

The sesame pancake is chewy and delicious! Both the duck and tuna fillings were flavorful, and of course even better topped with some sriracha sauce. The dumplings were delightful, with a great filling and a thick and chewy skin. I really could have done with just the sandwich for lunch, but decided I couldn't leave without trying the dumplings. Both of us agreed that we need to come back, hopefully often.

Peking Duck Sandwich ($2.25)

Tuna Salad Sandwich ($2.00)

Fried Pork & Scallion Dumplings (4 for $2)

The funny thing is I've already gone back! My sister was dying to try these, so I picked up some sandwiches and dumplings for her on my way back from a meeting downtown. I took this chance to snap some yummy pictures.

"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." - George Bernard Shaw
I love this quote. I oftentimes feel as if I am going through a quarter life crisis. At age 25, I should know what I'm doing right? This is not the case for me, and I've been letting it get me down. But I decided a little while ago that I need to be comfortable and happy in my own skin. One way that I am attempting to do this is through this blog. I love putting outfits together, and I really love and appreciate the comments and support from my readers. This has given me so much more confidence in myself. So I have to say thank you for the support, I really truly appreciate it.

This is an outfit that is one of my personal favorites. I love combining different textures and prints together. Love that this outfit is super comfortable, and I felt confident and cute in it. (And, of course, it's belted! Can't get enough of the Snakebite Belt.) Summer in the city is just too much fun. There is just so much out there. I've surrounded myself with some amazing people whom I am super grateful for. Life is too short to force yourself to spend time with people you cannot enjoy. This post is borderline emo and super cheesy, but that's just the way I feel.

Cock a Doodle Doo!!!

What I'm wearing:
*anthropologie Cock-a-Doodle Dress (similar here and here)
*Forever 21 Elastic Crochet Back Belt (similar here)
*Enzo Angiolini Yellow Patent Maylie Peep-Toe Pumps (similar here)
*Michael Kors Oversized Black Watch (similar here)

I love quirky animal prints, if you didn't know that already from reading my blog. I love the bright kelly green of this dress, perfect for eating lunch outside no?

Lately I've been experiencing something I haven't experienced in a long time. I haven't been that interested in shopping! Well I've been making a bigger effort to get dressed and blog about it, but I have definitely been shopping less both in person and online. Not that I've lost interest in clothes all together, but I think I've become distracted by other things going on in my life. I'm really enjoying living in New York City and everything the city has to offer. So much to explore, I feel like even if I lived here for the rest of my life I could never experience everything. Life is good. =)

Savannah just can't resist trying to sneak into my photos!
