A Night at The MOMA

This past Monday I was lucky enough to attend an after hours cocktail reception at The Museum of Modern Art. It was really interesting to be able to walk around a bit (not the whole museum obviously) without having to wade through the crowds. Now that I'm working, the only times I have to go to museums in the city are on the weekends, when of course they are the most crowded. So this was an opportunity that this art history minor relished.

What I'm wearing:
*Tucker for Target Signature Dress in Bird Lawn Print
*Frye Dorado Slouch Boots in Cognac (similar here)
*Bally Quilted Purse

I am still loving all of my Tucker for Target signature dresses. I love that they go seamlessly from day to night. I wore this outfit to work, and went straight to the MOMA for the reception.

This photo is a little print crazy, but I love it. This may have been taken after a couple of cocktails....

SOOOO happy it's finally Friday! This week was a bit rough for me and I'm so glad I can finally relax. Hope everyone has a happy Halloween! I went to this haunted house with some co-workers and screamed like a little girl (and loved it)!! I've been really busy and think I want to take it easy tonight.

Splash of Pink

What I'm wearing:
*J.Crew Schoolboy Blazer in Grey (similar here)
*Zara Navy/White Striped T-shirt (similar here)
*Gap Ankle Zip Leggings (similar here)
*Nine West "Sitcom" Over the Knee Boots in Black
*Bally Quilted Bag (similar here)
*Fuschia Pashmina from street vendor (similar here)

This was a super easy outfit to put together. I knew that I wanted to be comfortable, so the leggings and tee were obvious choices, but I decided this schoolboy blazer would keep me from looking too schlumpy.

I picked up a few brightly colored pashminas for very cheap by a little pop up market that was by Bleecker St this past weekend. This bright fuschia color was the one that drew me to this particular stall, and I decided at the super low price of 3/$10 I could take a few of these very soft scarves home with me. I love scarves to brighten up otherwise drab outfits, and they are a quick fix to change a look.

I've been obsessed with this quilted bag lately. It belonged to my mother in the 90s, and I have lots of memories of her carrying it around. Luckily my mother takes immaculate care of her handbags, and I feel very lucky to be able to wear her hand-me-downs.

Sorry for the quick post, have been very busy but wanted to show everyone what I've been wearing!

See the World

What I'm wearing:
*anthropologie Curlytop Cardigan in Ivory
*LOFT Sequin Tank in Nude (similar here)
*anthropologie Fulmar Sweater Skirt
*Gap Over the Knee Socks in Cream (similar here)
*anthropologie Cherry Picked Boots (similar here)
*Gap Canvas & Leather Trim Satchel (suede version here)

Have you ever just thought about an item that you've had in your closet forever, and develop a certain urge to wear it immediately? That's what happened with my anthropologie Fulmar skirt. I pretty much lept up out of bed and dug through my skirt drawer until I found this one. I really love this skirt and am happy that it's cool enough to wear a sweater skirt.

I love wearing sequins in the daytime. It just helps me feel a bit fancier! I decided to stick with neutrals to wear with this skirt, but incorporated different textures to keep it interesting. I originally was planning on wearing mary janes with this outfit, but thought the pop of cherry would be fun!

New York was lucky to have gorgeous weather this weekend!! Had fun celebrating a girlfriend's birthday, tried out a new restaurant, and went for a walk in Central Park.

A Walk in the Park

What a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon - taking a stroll through Central Park. It's a little slice of nature in the busy city. The leaves are changing color and the park is full of gorgeous color. You can see more photos on my tumblr, but here are a few of my faves taken with my iphone.

Call Me Chewbacca

What I'm wearing:
*H&M Olive Tunic (similar here)
*Zara Faux Fur Hooded Vest (similar here)
*Target Black Leggings
*Nine West Sitcom Over the Knee Boots in Black

Happy Friday everyone!!! This is actually an older outfit from earlier in the week that I hadn't had the chance to post yet. I'm obsessed with my faux fur vests, so I was super excited that it cooled down, so I got a chance to wear them before it gets too cold. I feel like in order to be comfortable wearing a fuzzy vest, the temperature can't be too hot or too cold, it has to be just right! I just love how cozy these vests can be. I love this particular one because its on the longer side, gives you that extra bit of warmth.

(I do think that the tunic could have used a bit of a steam.)

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I'm a bit hungover this Friday.... thanks to a very fun Oktoberfest party last night. =)

Quick Snap: Zebra Sweater Dress

What I'm wearing:
*J.Crew Zebra Sweater Dress (similar here)
*Old Navy Skinny Belt in Yellow (similar here)
*Gap Opaque Tights in Black
*Nine West Sitcom Over the Knee Boots in Black (similar here)

Didn't have time to take a good photo of this outfit, but I really like it so I decided to take a quick pic. I know that I have an abundance of animal prints in my closet, but I especially love this zebra sweater dress because it is really cozy and comfortable.

I'm wearing my new OTK boots!! I absolutely love these, I've been looking for ages for a simple pair I can wear with everything, and these fit the bill. You can't really see them that well in this photo unfortunately, I will try to take a better photo of them soon.

Lace & Leopard

What I'm wearing:
*Zara Short-Sleeved Lace Dress (similar here)
*J.Crew Leopard Print Skinny Belt (similar here)
*Gap Opaque Tights
*Steve Madden Suede Mary-Jane Wedge
*Banana Republic Bow Clutch
*Forever 21 Bow Headband

It's after Labor Day, but I still wanted to wear this cream lace dress. A lace dress has been on my wishlist for ages & ages but I've never really seen one that looked good on me and was in my price range. I have every intention of wearing this dress year-round. With black tights and the little touch of leopard print in the belt, I think I can make this work for fall.

I feel very Blair Waldorf with my big bow headband, but I have to say that I love the girliness of it. I picked up a few of these headbands in various colors from Forever 21 for $1.50 each!

I haven't watched Gossip Girl in ages, but my favorite Blair quote is: "Haven't you heard? I'm the crazy bitch around here." =)

Meet Me on the Sunny Road

What I'm wearing:
*Forever 21 Olive Green Knit Dress (similar here)
*Forever 21 Drape Leatherette Jacket (similar here)
*H&M Leather Scarf (similar here)
*Gap Cable-knit Tights
*Gucci Ankle Boots (similar here)
*Fendi Monogram Bag (similar here)

Fall is definitely my favorite season. The day that I finally pull on a pair of tights I really feel as if I can really start dressing for the season. This olive green dress is one that I wore throughout the summer, but when layered with my favorite jacket of the moment (sorry, I know I've been wearing it non-stop!) and a leopard scarf, I feel like it can work with the current weather. This is a lot of black in one outfit for me, but I think I like it (NYC must be getting to me).

Painting my nails is one of my favorite things to do. I find it very relaxing, and I love how such a little change can brighten up my day. I ordered several of the new China Glaze holiday collection (check out swatches here), and I'm in love!

Cozy Fair Isle

What I'm wearing:
*Forever 21 Fair Isle Cardigan (similar here)
*Gap Ruffle Top in White
*J.Crew Toothpick Cords in Soft Ochre (similar here)
*Bandolino Flats in Black Patent (similar here)
*Michael Kors Skorpios Ring Tote in Black
*Cynthia Rowley Grey Textured Scarf

I love a great fair isle print. It conjures up images of warm fireplaces, snow-capped mountains, and steaming mugs of hot cocoa. I decided it would be the perfect print to wear while enjoying a lovely afternoon of shopping. (Finally picked up the perfect pair of flat over the knee boots!)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

Mean Mr. Mustard

What I'm wearing:
*Forever 21 Minimalist Woven Top in Yellow
*Gap Square Print Pleated Skirt in Black/White
*Forever 21 Leatherette Drape Jacket
*Nine West Lucero Pumps in Wine Patent (similar here)
*Forever 21 Pearl Bib Necklace (similar here)
*Michael Kors Oversized Black Watch

Black & white prints with a splash of color is definitely one of my favorite outfit combinations. I bought this slinky citrine colored top ages ago but haven't worn it yet (and also I was too lazy to whip out my steamer and steam the wrinkles out of it), and when I saw this printed skirt from the Gap, I thought that it would go well together. This is definitely a color that I am drawn to often.

Still loving my little leatherette jacket from Forever 21. I think this one is perfect for me because it doesn't have any embellishments that other cheaper faux leather jackets have. It's simple and it adds just a wee bit of edge to my mostly feminine looks.

What I really wish I grabbed this morning was a Pumpkin Spice Latte. I've been trying to be good and not buy coffee drinks out, but with fall in the air I may treat myself this afternoon. Anyone else love these as much as me? Or what is your favorite fall drink? (I also love the Caramel Apple Spice drink Starbucks has.)

Somebody Like You

What I'm wearing:
*anthropologie Chunky Sweater (similar here)
*Martin + Osa Striped Long-sleeve Tee
*J.Crew Toothpick Ankle Cords in Grey
*Taryn Rose Red Patent Criss-Cross Heels (similar here)
*Gap Canvas Satchel (suede version here)

Nothing says "bring it on, fall!" like a cozy, chunky sweater. This was one of those items that never really caught my eye online or on the hanger, but once I saw a sales associate wearing it in the store last fall, I knew I had to have it. Luckily, it was in the sale section. I love the burnished olive color that seems to be so popular right now, and I think it's a great transitional piece. The bulkiness of the sweater makes it hard to layer under a coat, so this brisk autumn weather is perfect for this. I just threw on a striped tee underneath, and I don't even need a cardigan or jacket!

I've been on the search for a great slouchy satchel, and of course the famous Mulberry Alexa one is a little out of my reach right now. I found this great leather-trimmed canvas alternative at the Gap of all places, and I love that it has a similar vibe. I love that it fits everything I need for work, with room for more. This doesn't quench my lemming for the Alexa of course, that bag will always be at the top of my wishlist!

Friday Night Lights

What I'm wearing:

*anthropologie Flipside Blazer (similar here)
*H&M Polka Dot Tie Top (similar here)
*Joie Willa Skirt in Stain (similar here)
*Bandolino Black Patent Flats
*Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy 30

The blazer + blouse combination has always felt just a little too corporate for me. But when the blazer is made out of soft jersey, and the blouse is a fun polka dot print, I feel like it has a much relaxed look. I'm still so grateful that my new office is casual and I can pretty much wear whatever I want! I like that this outfit can transition easily from the work day to happy hour.

These Bandolino flats are my new favorite find (besides my New Balance for NW sparkly flats of course). I needed to replace my beloved Taryn Rose black patent flats after a certain adorable puppy chewed them up, and these were at a great price point (30% off at ShoeWoo!) and I am wearing them for the first time today and they are so comfortable! I was really surprised, I just threw them on and was hoping for the best (and packed some Band-Aids just in case) but they fit great even on the first wear.

Is everyone excited for the holiday weekend? I know I am. Any fun plans? I don't have anything major planned, just to catch up with some friends and catch up on some new movies! (And also catch up on my new favorite Netflix addiction.... Friday Night Lights!)

Quick Snap: Bows & Cords

What I'm wearing:
*H&M Bow Top (similar here)
*J.Crew Toothpick Ankle Cords in Soft Ochre
*Nine West Pumps in Pewter Patent (similar here)

Just a quick snap of my OOTD today! I decided it was cool enough to break out the cords. This bow top has got to be one of my favorite purchases from H&M. I love that it's girly and comfy at the same time, and the grey/black colorway goes with just about everything.

The weather has been way too gloomy out to be able to take outdoor photos. I promise they will be back soon!

I finally found a pair of "commuting shoes" that I love. I've been on the search for the perfect pair since I've started working. I realized that wearing heels during my commute is not only impractical, but also slows me down and causes me pain. I'm definitely not the type of girl that would wear sneakers on the way to work. I've been wearing the flats that I currently own, but they didn't provide much support for me on the NYC sidewalks. I was so very excited to find the New Balance for Nine West Softmoon Mary Janes in Black/Silver. They aren't as cute or darling as other flats out there, but these are REALLY, truly comfortable (I went for a walk in Central Park in these!) and they sparkle. I figured if I need practical shoes, they might as well be sparkly! I think they look especially cute peeking out from under jeans.

Swing Swing

What I'm wearing:
*Martin + Osa Swing Jacket in Orange
*Zara Navy/White Striped Tee (similar here)
*J.Brand Skinny Crops in Ink
*Gap City Flats in Bronze
*Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy 30

The brisk fall weather we've been having let me break out one of my favorite little jackets! The orange is perfect for fall and was super easy to pair with a casual striped tee. I wore this outfit this weekend for brunch with M, and then a trip to the park with some girlfriends.

Can you tell that I've been having way too much fun with the Hipstamatic app on my new iphone? It's such a fun way to just snap pics around town even without my digital camera.
