Big Blue

What I'm wearing:
*aerie Slouchy Sweater in Oatmeal
*Forever 21 Premium Denim Colored Skinnies in Royal
*J.Crew Bubble Necklace in Turquoise
*Jessica Simpson Patent Leopard Print Pumps
*Missoni for Target Zig Zag Silk Scarf

I've obviously hopped onto the bright denim bandwagon, and I'm loving it! These cobalt skinnies are definitely brightening up my day. To be honest I can't believe I've been wearing pants so much lately, I've always been a skirt/dress kind of girl. Probably because it's always hard for me to to find pants with a short enough inseam that I don't need to get hemmed. Luckily cropped pants have been in recently, and on my short legs, they fit like normal length pants.

There is a lot of blue in this outfit, but I don't think they clash with each other. I actually tried to find my coral bubble necklace this morning and failed. But the turquoise matches on of the colors in the printed silk scarf! Wearing a scarf in my hair is a bit out of my comfort zone, but I love this zig zag scarf my lovely friend S picked up for me at her local Target (I didn't even try to go to any of the NYC locations). I never feel comfortable wearing all solids, and I think the printed scarf and leopard heels add some more fun to this look!

Cut Out Tulips

What I'm wearing:
*Diane von Furstenberg "Cleo" Dress in Cut Out Tulips
*Enzo Angiolini "Maylie" Peep-toes in  Yellow Croc Patent
*Rebecca Minkoff "Studded Devote" Tote in Black/Gold

In the process of sorting through my closet to put away summery items and bring out more cold weather clothes, I re-discovered some gems. This dress had been hanging in my closet all summer long, but I never reached for it, so I decided to give it a go before it got too cold (although I think this would work layered with a cardigan and tights for fall).

The studded Rebecca Minkoff tote had been hiding in my closet too! It had been too hot to lug a heavy-ish leather tote around, but now that it's cooled down a bit I am more comfortable carrying it. It's perfect for carrying all the stuff I lug around every day, and has enough room for me to toss my heels in during my commute.

Is it really only Tuesday? I'm counting down the days till Friday....

Zig A Zag Ha

What I'm wearing:
*Missoni for Target Sweater Dress
*Forever 21 Button Tab Open Cardigan in Rust (similar here)
*Aerosoles "Splurge" Wedges
*Martin + Osa Braided Chain Necklace in Gold
*Botkier "Clyde" Trigger Bag in Hunter Green

I tried not to get sucked into the hoopla surrounding Missoni for Target, but couldn't help picking up this printed sweater dress. It's great to wear now during this transitional fall weather, and I thought it would look cute in the winter layered with a button down underneath and worn with tights and boots.

The dress is surprisingly well made, and I love the colors that are found in the signature zig zag pattern. Loved this collaboration, wish I had been able to pick up a few more pieces! (A lovely friend was able to pick up the silk scarf for me as well.)

Red Hot

What I'm wearing:
*Diane von Furstenberg "Louche" Printed Silk Blouse (solid color here)
*American Eagle Jegging in Red
*Nine West Pewter Patent Pumps
*MICHAEL Michael Kors "Large Hamilton" Tote in Luggage

I feel like a bona fide member of the Red Hat Society in this outfit. Red jeans were on my fall wishlist, so I was happy to see them on sale in store at AE! Originally this morning I meant to wear this blouse with my cobalt jeans, which I love as well, but I felt like the bright red was a bit more fun with the purple.

Quick Snap: A Little Bit of Sunshine

What I'm wearing:
*Forever 21 Silky Tie Blouse in Bright Yellow
*Aerie Twill Ankle Zip Pant in Native Navy
*Tory Burch Black Patent "Reva" Flats (for outdoors)
*Nine West Pewter Patent Pumps (for the office)
*Martin + Osa Leopard Print Scarf
*J.Crew Downtown Field Jacket (this year's version)
*MICHAEL Michael Kors "Large Hamilton" Tote in Luggage

Now that it's getting cooler I have so many more items to list out from my OOTD! I feel like during the summer it was two or three items max. Fall is all about the layering, especially with my commute. Sorry for the lack of posts, and the iPhone pics. Hopefully the weather will hold up in the mornings so I can take real photos again!

I had a busy (but very fun) weekend, and yesterday was a bit of a rough day for me so I had zero motivation to look cute to go to work. And I broke down and did something that I have been trying to avoid for the past few weeks: retail therapy. I am aware that I enjoy shopping far too much, and have been making an effort not to let myself use shopping as a way to make myself feel better. So I do feel a bit guilty for indulging, but I didn't do too much damage (you can't really go that crazy in F21). Picked up a few colorful items (including this bright yellow top) that definitely helped perk up my mood, especially this morning when I got dressed on this dreary day.

How do you keep yourself from emotional shopping? I'm honestly a little disappointed in myself, but there is no point in beating myself up again, just need to remind myself that I do not ever need anything, that everything outside of necessities is a *want*.

Feeling Green

What I'm wearing:
*Forever 21 Lace Inset Blouse
*Zara Knit Mini Skirt in Green
*Rachel Comey "Mars" Boots in Leopard
*Mulbery "Alexa" Bag in Oak
*Target Clover Necklace

I almost didn't post this OOTD because I just didn't love the way it looked. This outfit looked a lot better and less wrinkly in my head. The top is cute but impossible to keep tucked in so at the moment it is no longer tucked. The only saving grace is that I still love my Rachel Comey Mars boots. I will try to keep myself from wearing them every single day but I can't promise anything...

See Me on "Respect the Shoes" Today!

Lisa of Respect the Shoes was lovely enough to have me be the first to participate in her new feature, "Five Minutes With..." See it here!

(In honor of her blog name I've posted some of my favorite shoes! Wearing the tan Tory Burch flats today.)

Neon Monday

What I'm wearing:
*J.Crew Perfect Shirt in Neon Azalea
*Zara Tulip Dress in Royal Blue
*DV by Dolce Vita "Jacquie" Clog Sandal in Black
*J.Crew (outlet) Starfish Pendant

This look is very bright, even for my standards, but I'm in such a great mood today I wanted something that would match it. I'm pretty sure I'm annoying my co-workers because I'm pretty much bouncing off the walls, and the iced coffee I just had is NOT helping.

Had a great weekend at Happy Valley for the Penn State/Alabama game! It was a bit rough rooting for Bama in the midst of many, many hardcore PSU fans, but it was fun anyway. And one of my highlights of my weekend? Running into a reader of Love at First Shop in the middle of the tailgate! I'm just hoping that she didn't judge me on my tailgating outfit. =)

Roll Tide!

My super fashionable outfit for the tailgate! And yes that is a major beer funnel behind me.

One of these things is not like the others...

Sweet Home Alabama

What I'm wearing:
*Zara Striped Knit Top
*J.Brand Skinny Crop Jeans
*Aerosoles "Splurge" Wedges
*Marc Jacobs "Sophia" Bag in Meadow
*Forever 21 Chunky Turquoise Necklace

Finally Friday! I can wear jeans whenever I want to work, but for some reason I prefer to save them to wear on "casual" Fridays. I also haven't worn skinny jeans in forever, I had been avoiding them like the plague this summer, but today they felt just right. Another item I haven't worn in forever is this Marc Jacobs "Sophia" bag. This bag was my very first high end purse, it was a gift from my mother during my freshman year of college. I was so very excited to have a Marc Jacobs bag to call my own! So even though it's a bit worn down, it brings back a lot of great memories so every once in a while I bring it out.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I am headed to Happy Valley with some friends for the Bama/Penn State game tomorrow. I love college football, and I love tailgating even more!

Happy Thursday

What I'm wearing:
*Zara Knit Dress with Flared Skirt
*H&M Red Bubble Necklace
*Rachel Comey "Mars" Boots in Leopard
*YSL Oversized Muse in Black

I told you I'd be wearing these boots every day! I apologize in advance because I'm sure you'll be sick of seeing me wear them all of the time. But I will get my money's worth out of these babies. I'm a bit overdressed for the weather, but I was so cold the last couple of days that I put on tights. The Zara dress is a bit more green/teal in real life, less blue like in these photos. And you can buy Zara online now! Finally.

Is anyone doing anything tonight for FNO? I actually have a work obligation so will not be making it to any events, although I am looking forward to dinner at David Burke Kitchen since I've never been before. I had a lot of fun last year, there are so many great events going on! If you want a very comprehensive list, check out this guide at Portender!

Tights Weather

What I'm wearing:
*H&M Dress in Mustard
*Forever 21 Necklace
*Rachel Comey "Mars" Boots in Leopard

I know it's a little early to be wearing tights and boots but I am COLD so I don't care what anyone else thinks! I didn't think I'd be so excited about cooler weather but fall is definitely my favorite season so I am really looking forward to it.

These Rachel Comey "Mars" Boots were my big fall purchase! I'm trying so very hard to just look at what I already have in my closet and see what I can work with. I'm warning you, I will be wearing these boots constantly. They are super comfortable and I'm just going to pretend they are a neutral and wear them with everything. I really need them in all black now....

Two By Two

What I'm wearing:
*Kate Spade Two by Two Dana Dress
*DV by Dolce Vita "Aisha" Lace-up Boots in Taupe Suede
*American Eagle Cross-body Bag in Yellow

All I can say to a dress with giraffes on it? Yes, please.

Summer Festival

What I'm wearing:
*Ruche "Summer Festival" Striped Dress
*anthropologie Snake Bite Belt in Grey
*anthropologie "Mint Drop" Necklace
*Enzo Angiolini "Maylie" Peep Toe Pump in Yellow Croc Patent
*Rebecca Minkoff Studded "Fling" Clutch in Peacock

Ended up staying in the city this weekend instead of heading to the beach. I'm sad I'm missing out on the fun, but I'm using the holiday weekend to relax, organize my apartment, put away my most summery clothes, and pull out some early fall things that I'm looking forward to wearing! I'm most looking forward to ankle boots, light jackets, and wearing scarves again. Trying to get excited about the fall clothes that I already have instead of buying new stuff, although the new collections in store are so tempting!

Sweet September

What I'm wearing:
*Target Odette Knit Dress in Navy/Green
*anthropologie Looping Lanes Belt
*J.Crew Bubble Necklace in Coral
*Miu Miu Naplack Patch Pumps in Nudo

Random thoughts for this Thursday:

  • I only ordered this dress from Target after seeing it on my co-worker.
  • Sorry for the redundant poses on the blog. I feel like I do the same thing every single day. But then again, I'm not a paid model, just a girl with a tripod & remote.
  • Is it September already?
  • Who is excited for college football to start?
  • I can't decide if I like my hair better wavy or straight.
  • I have great respect for women who wear their stilettos all over the city. With a few exceptions, I am always carrying my heels in my purse and wearing flats during my commute. Last time I tried to wear heels, they kept getting stuck in the grates!
  • I'm currently wearing a black cardigan over this dress in the office because it is freezing, but it's annoying me that the dress has navy in it.
