Quick Snap: Ready for the Holiday Weekend

Definitely already in beach mode at the moment. Took tomorrow off, so I have a 4-day weekend in Montauk and the Hamptons to look forward to! Will be headed out tonight, so I've dressed comfortably for the long train ride. I feel ridiculously preppy in my stripes and boat shoes but I am kind of loving it.

How cute is this umbrella necklace? I had to have it as soon as I saw Sara (You, Me, and Anthropologie) wear it. (Funny thing is that in that post she talks about getting a dress that she saw on me. The great thing about the blogosphere is that we discover lots of fun new finds through others!)

No, I didn't blow a month's rent on buying a Muse, this bag is on loan from my lovely sister! I am obsessed with it though, I can't stop caressing it. It is a great bag, I really need to save up for one myself. I will admit that I created this look around the bag. I couldn't resist snapping up this fox-printed tank after seeing it on a blogger friend here. I love black & white mixed with a bright color, so I picked this sunny yellow skirt, even though I was worried for a second about looking too bumblebee-like.

Wore this look to brunch this past weekend. I'm definitely embracing shorts this summer. They are so comfortable, even a little more comfortable than wearing skirts/dresses! This was such an easy look to throw on on a beautiful day.

I am such a sucker for stripes that it is ridiculous. Whether they be narrow breton stripes, or thicker rugby stripes, I can't resist them. Navy and white stripes are my favorite, but this "sail blue" color just seemed so happy and caught my eye.

These shorts have been sitting in my closet for quite some time now. I love scalloped edges, and when I saw these blush colored shorts at H&M I couldn't resist, but whenever I tried to style a look, I couldn't figure anything out. This look is casual, not 100% sure if I love it after looking at these photos, but I don't mind trying new stuff out. Although now I know to definitely suck it my tummy while taking pics while wearing this.

I couldn't resist picking up a pair of the DV Jacquie clogs in black that I already own in cognac. L&T was having a great sale and I really love how comfortable these sandals are. I feel like now my entire summer shoe wardrobe consists of Dolce Vita and TOMS shoes. I'm ok with that.

Puppy Love

This is a dress I "borrowed" from my sister one day as I had a work event to go to and was not dressed appropriately. Luckily she lives just a few blocks from my office, and I was able to snag this dress from her. It actually came with a different slip underneath, but it was white and I didn't really love it, so I decided layering my FP lace bottom slip was a better alternative. (This slip has been getting a lot of love lately.) And I just love the scotty dogs on this belt, I have a soft spot for dogs and the orange adds a bit of brightness to the outfit.

Last night I was lucky enough to attend the CMA Songwriter Series thanks to People Country. I am a huge country fan (which is weird for a girl from New Jersey but my time in Nashville definitely influenced me) and it was amazing to see these great songwriters perform the hit songs that I love, that they wrote! And of course I loved seeing Easton Corbin (he sings "A Little More Country Than That") there, he is so adorable! I definitely was acting all boyband-crazy about him when I got to meet him after the show.

I love being matchy matchy sometimes. It's a particular pet peeve of mine, but sometimes I just can't help it. Aqua and coral is one of my favorite color combinations, and yellow is my usual "splash of color" color of choice.

Glad that I lasted through this work week and weekend! I've been stretching myself a bit thin lately, but I have a major case of FOMO (fear of missing out). I can never say no to anything. Which is always fun, but now I'm majorly feeling a worn down. Some highlights: an 80s party (complete with fanny packs), a night out at the Brooklyn Bowl, and the Coney Island Mermaid Parade which was an experience like no other! Had a great time but now I'm paying the price with a sore throat and a hoarse voice. I'm pretty sure it was worth it but now I need to recover!

Happy Friday, everyone! Wore this polka dot number to go to a work party last night, which ended up being a lot of fun! And yes, I covered up while in the office beforehand. I feel like there's a lot going on with the flower, the dots, the leopard, and the wedges, but I felt cute in it, so I guess that's all that matters, right?

This outfit was directly influenced by Bee of Atlantic-Pacific, one of my favorite blogs! (See her look here.) I am not as glam as her but I think this outfit reflects my style pretty well. The funny thing is that I had an 80s party to go to, and was about to change into my outfit at work, when a co-worker told me, "you changed already!". She thought my day look was my 80s costume! It was probably the combination of neon and floral.

I've been tying my shirts in the front a lot lately (see it here and here). I feel like it's a great way to wear a button down without having to tuck it in (which I can never get to stay) or shorten it from an awkward length. This neon gingham shirt makes me happy! It actually reminds me of a male co-workers shirt that I have always admired, and now we can match. (Totally kidding.)

Summer Watermelon

This summer, the colors I'm most attracted to are: coral, watermelon, fuschia, highlighter pink. You can see this evident in a lot of my recent outfits of the day. Good thing that brights are everywhere! These colors make me happy, and can brighten up even a dreary day. (And, they make me look more tan. Which is always good in my book.)

Wore this out on Friday night hanging out with some friends that were visiting from out of town! I love this watermelon shade, although it did feel a little overkill because it matched the color of my mani/pedi exactly (I did this inadvertantly).

I'm On a Boat

Ok, I'm not really on a boat, but I am really obsessed with my new boat shoes from Sperry. I have a pair of the very basic leather boat shoes, that I actually used to wear on a boat, but this fun gold pair is great for running around the city.

Today is probably the hottest day we've had so far this year. I was definitely sweating up a storm getting to work today. Ick. I don't have AC in my apartment right now (I need someone to install mine) so I really was uninspired while I was getting dressed today. I was also not in the mood to wear heels, so I decided to stick with comfy flats!

As someone who declared their hatred of pants a little while ago, I take it back. Lately I've been loving pants! This is very new to me. It's probably because I've picked up a couple of bright pairs from Zara that I adore. This pair on the other hand has seen better days, I think I've had this pair of cropped chinos since college (eep!). Not sure if I should keep or toss, but they are a decent basic pant. 

I felt very All-American and preppy wearing this. And a bit matchy-matchy but I feel like the coral wedges added a pop of color. I can't wait until I get my camera charger back! Sorry for the crappy iphone pics, my friend M was nice enough to quickly take these for me last night before we went to go see Bridesmaids (which is hilarious by the way and I am in love with Kristen Wiig). 

I look silly but I thought it was funny.
