Ok, so I really don't need any more stripes in my life, but I couldn't resist this comfy knit dress when LOFT was having their 40% off promotion. Navy and white stripes are definitely my favorite! I was tempted to pair red with it, which is easy and what I would normally do, but decided to branch out a bit with the orange and blue.

Tonight I am headed to North Carolina to spend some quality time with my college girlfriends for my friend Erin's bachelorette party!!!! So excited to get together again, we all live in different cities and it's not very often we all get to get together.

Whenever I wear this top it makes me think of dalmatians with their spots! But hopefully it doesn't make me look like Cruella DeVille. I LOVED the movie as a child (the cartoon version) and was fascinated by Cruella's craziness. And of course the thought of all of those puppies is just plain adorable!

I can't believe I'm wearing pants because it's so hot out, but a girl can only wear so many skirts/dresses. Decided to mix things up by wearing these skinny cargoes. It's my small attempt at trying to toughen up this very girly/ruffley top.

Cats & scallops. What more could a girl want? I do feel like I get asked, "are those cats on your shirt?" everytime I wear this blouse. I run the risk of looking like a crazy cat sweater lady, but I think this blouse is pretty fun! Scalloped hems are another current love of mine, and I picked up this pair a little while ago, these have an elastic waist and are very comfortable.

This weekend was one of the hottest that I've experienced so far in the city. It was absolutely miserable. Luckily I was able to beat the heat a little bit by escaping to the Soho House rooftop pool on Friday, which was a completely amazing experience that I probably won't be able to experience again (this is the rooftop Samantha from Sex and the City tried to sneak into on the show). Also was fortunate enough to drive up to a friends' house outside Manhattan and relax by the pool. The city gets so hot, sometimes you just need to escape either by going up (rooftop) or out.

Ever since Bravo started using Britney's "I Wanna Go" in their promo spots, I've had this song stuck in my head constantly! Definitely makes me want to dance. Wore this look to work and then drinks on a roof top, and I've never gotten so many compliments before last night with this necklace. It has a very similar look to an older J.Crew necklace, but this one is from H&M and was only $12. I like that it adds a splash of color to an otherwise drab colored outfit.

Every time I wear a gingham or a plaid shirt, I can't help but feel a bit like a country gal. This gal lives in the big city, but sometimes she can't help her inner (faux) Southerner come out! It is probably too hot in the city to be wearing anything that has sleeves, but indoors in the air conditioned office can be brutal. Luckily I can easily take this button down off while I'm running around outside, but keep it on when it's chilly inside. I've had this simple green maxi dress for a couple of years now, but I always thought it was too plain and boring, even though it's extremely comfortable to lounge around it. I'm glad I kept it around though, I thought it was a great base to showcase my favorite brightly printed shirt.

This striped skirt was one of my impulse buys during an impulsive shopping trip (those are never good). I loved it when I saw it in the store, but when I tried to wear it it took me a while to figure out what would go with an orange/green striped skirt. Then this oldie-but-goodie studded top called out to my in my closet and came to the rescue!

Sometimes a girl just needs to put on a pretty dress and get all dolled up. This dress is pretty simple, but very easy to dress up with some accessories. In real life it leans a bit more towards purple than blue, but it was hard to capture on camera.

These pants are so bright I always feel like a smurf whenever I wear them. Since they are a bit slouchy I usually try to pair them with a more fitted top, but today I just didn't feel like wearing anything fitted. Too hot for that! Love this striped silk tank, it was an "investment" piece for me but I love it a lot. Hope everyone stays cool this weekend!

Ok, so I'm the last person I thought would ever wear a hat in public. I'm not sure what is wrong with the circumference of my head, but most hats don't fit me right and I am never comfortable in them. I did find this straw hat from Forever 21, and decided that I would try out this whole hat thing. Not sure if I'm completely sold on it, but at least it wasn't a big investment. Same with this striped dress, I didn't realize it was on sale when I got to the register, but it rang up for only $20 at Zara! Makes me kind of wish I picked up the navy striped version as well. It's dangerous when you have so many stores on the way home from work. But I'm trying to stay away from buying multiples of items, I do have a lot of navy/white striped items so I thought I'd branch out into the red. This outfit is completely matchy-matchy and overly preppy, but I love it. In an over the top Margot Tenenbaum sort of way. Is it too much red? I can't decide. Red has never been my color but it's slowly growing on me.

Attempting to stay cool during this heatwave. (Don't worry, I wore a simple black cardigan buttoned over this at work.) This dress is a gem I found hidden deep in my sister's closet, it's from a few years ago but it's perfect for this hot weather.

It has seriously been too hot to wear real clothes lately. This little romper came in handy for a weekend afternoon of brunch and walking around the city.

Even though I wish I had been at the beach this weekend, I had a great weekend in the city. Sunday was particularly delightful because I stopped by The Doughnut Plant and picked up a few doughnuts! Not sure why I was craving these things, but I'm glad I succumbed to my urges. Also, watching the US women's soccer team beat Brazil in the World Cup was awesome! I'm not normally a women's soccer watcher, but I happened to watch the whole match and was enthralled at the very end! Very exciting stuff.
