One Step at a Time

What I'm wearing:
*H&M Faux Leather Shift Dress (similar here)
*Madewell Chambray Shirt (this year's version here)
*H&M Bubble Necklace in Red (similar here)
*Hue Opaque Tights in Black
*DV by Dolce Vita "Aisha" Lace-up Boots in Taupe Suede
*Zara Faux-Fur Trimmed Jacket
*J.Crew Hearthstone Glittens in Red
*YSL Muse in Black Patent

Every girl needs a faux leather shift dress, right? Ok, just kidding. This dress was actually purchased by my sister some time last year, but has been hanging in my closet with the tags on it for ages. I never thought I'd ever find an appropriate time or place to wear it. In the summer, when you'd want to wear a sleeveless dress, the pleather would be uncomfortable. I considered layering a blouse underneath, but still felt like I would give off too much of a biker vibe. But while I was searching for a cute, inexpensive faux leather mini, I decided to give layering over the dress a try. The casual chambray tones it down a lot, and paired with non-black leather shoes, I don't think it's overwhelming at all. Still a bit out of my cozy comfort zone, especially with the shirt buttoned all the way up (I NEVER do this), but I like the end result.

Got these glittens as a gift through work and I love them! Perfect for using my iPhone (for some reason I am so clumsy with touch screen gloves) or reaching for my metrocard while out and about in the cold.

  1. Totally cute! I would never have thought to add chambray to the leather, but this totally works!

  2. If I had to nominate someone who could rock a leather dress, I'd point right at you! Is it weird that I have yet to embrace the glove/mitten/etc. as an accessory? I go around with my hands jammed in my pockets f-freezing!
