Wake Up in the Morning Feelin' Like P.Diddy

Ok, Kesha's "Tik Tok" has been running circles through my head all morning!  And I couldn't think of a better title for this post. =P

What I'm wearing:
Sweaterdress from Korea (?)
Vintage Kissing Mice belt
anthropologie Calligrapher's Tights
Frye Lisa T-Straps

This dress is another fab find from my sister's closet. It is super cozy and warm. Pairing it with the sweater tights was a no brainer, I'm sick of being cold! I thought the color of the dress could use some brightening up, especially with the black belt and shoes, and think these tights go with it nicely.

I caught the sunrise this morning and snapped this quick photo. The colors were so beautiful!

Some of you may have already spotted it on my sidebar, but I started a blog for the items that I am selling. I figured I'd offer to my blog readers first, then put them up on eBay. It's called SHOP Love at First Shop and you can click here to go check it out!

Great Escape

What I'm wearing:
J.Crew Wool Schoolboy Blazer
aerie Striped Boatneck Tee
anthropologie Great Escape Skirt
Target cable-knit thigh high socks
anthropologie Sweater-Cuffed Booties

I felt a little silly taking these photos. I feel like I am taking a photo for the senior yearbook, right next to the mantel! Oh well the lighting was perfect here, I really love how there is so much sunlight at my parents' house.

The bright skirt is an attempt at denial at the cold weather outside. The name is appropriate, I think of it as a Great Escape! It is so bright and cheery and it makes me smile. The cable knit thigh highs kept me pretty warm but they kept falling down. FAIL. Guess I should stick to tights from now on.

Scored these ankle boots on sale at anthropologie! I love them, they are so comfortable and I feel like they will go with a ton of what I wear, and comfort is key.

After seeing these photos I feel like something is missing from my outfit. I feel like a big anchor pendant would have been a nice finishing touch. Unfortunately my things are scattered everywhere! I really need to be better organized when packing.

Right now I am just relaxing in the quiet house, enjoying a cup of coffee, and watching "You've Got Mail" on television. Not my favorite Meg Ryan movie, but it's nice to have in the background.

Home Sweet Home (Again)

What I'm wearing:
J.Crew Metallic Polka Dot cardigan
Forever 21 Tiered ruffle top
J.Crew Toothpick Ankle cords in Soft Ochre
Frye Lisa T-straps in Black
Forever 21 chain necklace

I just calculated that in 8 days, I drove over 40+ hours. That is an insane amount of driving! Luckily I had a few audiobooks to entertain me, which was very effective. I love audiobooks for long drives because they force you to pay attention to the story, and are just as entertaining as reading them or watching a TV show. I am finally back in Atlanta, relaxing at my parents' house for the next couple of weeks.

The good thing about being at my parents' house is that there is never a shortage of clothing. I had put on these cords (which I am obsessed with and really just need to stop wearing them all the time) and the grey tiered top, but couldn't really find a cardigan from the suitcase of clothes that I packed for this visit. A quick trip into my mother's walk in closet revealed this gem, which I had purchased a few years back for myself but after wearing a few times decided to retire it from my rotation. Voila! What's old is new again. I also "borrowed" this awesome necklace from my baby sister (*muhaha* cue evil laugh). What's great about a family full of girls is that we can all share and get things that are "new to us".

I love this cardigan because the polka dots are silver metallic! I am like a magpie, I love all things shiny. And ruffly. This Forever 21 tank was purchased during my intense, "I want all things that are tiered and ruffly"-phase. It may or may not still be going on today.

It is *freezing* in Atlanta!!!! I checked the weather and the high for today is the same as the high for New York City. I thought the south was supposed to be warmer? I did manage to go shopping today for some winter coats, and picked up two very warm ones on sale at Bloomingdale's to wear while in New York, but I may also have to whip them out here in Atlanta.

This is about five days too late but here are my 2010 New Year's Resolutions:
  • Be healthier. This encompasses exercise, diet, and mental well-being. I am going to attempt to get into a regular pattern of exercise, eat healthier and avoid falling into the trap of easy access to guilty pleasure food delivery, and also to avoid unnecessary stress over things that are out of my control.
  • Be less wasteful. I will try to recycle more, say no to plastic bags at the store, and avoid buying items I don't need.
  • Carefully consider future fashion purchases. This one definitely ties into the one above, but I felt that it deserved it's own bullet point. I need to avoid shopping with sale goggles, and need to squelch the feeling of needing more and more.
  • Put more love into this blog. I am so happy that I started "Love at First Shop" in early 2009, as it has brought me so much, mostly in thanks to the kind comments and emails from readers. I will try to take better photos, post more regularly, and try to think of some new content for this blog.
  • Try to find my life calling. Easier said than done. I feel like after college I have been extremely uninspired. This year I will make a serious attempt at finding out more about myself and what I can see myself doing in 5, 10 years.

I know that those are some lofty goals, but I have faith in myself to try to carry them out to the best of my ability. I wish everyone luck in their resolutions as well.

Hopefully this is the start of my regular posting again. I have been really behind in reading my favorite blogs, I have a lot of catching up to do!

Quelqu'un M'a Dit

What I'm wearing:
charcoal J.Crew turtleneck sweater (looks black in these pics though)
floral silk Anthropologie skirt
mustard yellow socks from Target
Target Kamaria ankle boots
coat stolen from my sister's closet, Korean?

It's a rainy day in Atlanta.... it's been raining ALL DAY. Which is why I tried to take better photos of my outfit but the lighting is horrible all around. So you'll have to settle for this boring background again.

I love rainy days when I don't really have to do anything! Didn't have any plans for today, but this morning I took a practice GRE exam. (Bah, not so much fun). Then my mother and I went out for some yummy Korean food (soondooboo and naengmyun / spicy tofu stew and cold buckwheat noodles) which is always something I love to do. Then of course to delay being out in the rain some more we stopped by the bakery and enjoyed lattes, split a croissant, and snacked on some macaroons. Lovely. =)

Aren't these booties so fun?

I think that they don't look that bad for only being $30. Love the color too! I figured for such a trendy boot, I'd go for the save vs. splurge. Love that they are military inspired.

Leaving... On a Jet Plane

What I'm wearing:
Lululemon Gratitude wrap
H&M printed dress
Martin + Osa cashmere scarf/wrap
Hue leggings
pewter BC flats
F21 bow headband

I've had a loooong day today. Finally snapped a photo of my outfit tonight. Nothing super special, but I just wanted to share what kind of clothes I like to wear while I'm traveling (especially via airplane).

The Lululemon Gratitude wrap is fantastically comfortable. It is super soft, lightweight, and does double duty as a blanket. I also love the fact that it has slits in the sleeves so I can slip my thumbs through! Love it. You can do so much with it, and it looks much, much cuter than a plain old regular hoodie.

I decided to wear this H&M dress I snatched from my sister, because it is super comfortable, fit nicely under the wrap, and I could wear it on it's own without another layering piece. The cashmere scarf was the finishing touch, while walking around the airport I wore it like a normal scarf, but it is big enough that it is an ultra warm wrap.

I really liked this combination because it was warm, but full of layers that I could peel off when needed (I didn't really need too, it was freezing on the plane, but they are always so inconsistent), and comfortable (no jean grommets poking me in the back or the bum).

So what did I do today? I woke up at 5:30am, drove to the airport, flew to Atlanta, took a quick nap, went to the dentist (where I had a crown removed and had a temporary one put it) which took TWO hours, had a yummy meal of sashimi, sushi, and jjigae, grabbed a hot chocolate and a yummy slice of cake at a Korean bakery, and now am finally able to relax at home. New Gossip Girl on tonight! =)

ETA: I promise you tomorrow's OOTD will NOT include leggings.

Rainy Day in Atlanta....

I am home for a few days, which is always relaxing, *but* I am here this time to get some dental work done. *sigh* Apparently I have very vulnerable teeth, am susceptible to cavities, grind my teeth at night, and my childhood fillings are falling out. I had an appointment and today and need to go back before my flight back to Baltimore tomorrow morning. FML. Anyways I have been pampered by my mother, and am just trying to enjoy eating yummy Korean food and snuggling with the puppy.

No pics, because I am just super scrubbed out, and I don't have my camera with me anyways. But I'm wearing:
Martin + Osa boyfriend jeans (never thought I'd hop on this trend but they are so comfy!)
white Forever 21 slouchy pocket tee
black Silence & Noise batwing cardigan
pewter Bloch ballet flats
black cashmere M+O wrap/scarf

It is truly dreary weather and I feel like my outfit reflects that, but it's really quite cozy.

Here are some random thoughts.... since I don't really have any outfits to post or anything.

1. Did anyone see Gossip Girl last night? Hillary Duff is really starting to get on my nerves! I really just think Dan has terrible taste.

2. Is it wrong to really like this hat? I've never had a hat like this before. It just looks so cozy!

It's the Plaid Earflap Cap from American Eagle. Hats always look awkward on me though.

3. I deposited a huge amount of clothes (not currently wearable, because of either weather or working situation) at my parents' house, and I still feel like I have so much left. I need to do a major closet cleanse. Again. And be much, much more brutal.

4. Halloween is this weekend!!!!!!! I have no real plans, and I actually don't like dressing up, but I feel like I might this year. I have no real costume, and don't really feel like spending money on one. I will try to work with what I have.

5. I'm wearing one of my new nail polishes right now! Essie Chinchilly, it's a great brown-y grey creme. I've already tried Mint Candy Apple, love it and gotten so many compliments on it! I want to try Midnight Cami next.

6. I like making lists way too much. =)
