Reviews: Drifting By Dress & Dewbud Tee

I'm sure I am not the only person that literally squealed when they saw the Drifting By Dress in the anthropologie catalog previews for March.

When I saw it I knew I wanted it to wear on my 25th birthday. I don't have anything special planned, just a fun night out with some girlfriends, but I decided I wanted to wear something pretty!

I'm sure it will still be cold around my birthday (March 12th) but I think it would work with black tights and heels, with a little jacket over it. I received it today in the mail and tried it on immediately. It's a little less pink in person than in my photo. I took this picture as the light was fading from the sky so I'll try to take more accurate photos later.

I think that this dress fits TTS to a little bit small. This is my normal 4 but it is a little bit snug so I think I'm going to try and see how the 6 fits, since it will probably be a bit more comfortable. The dress is very floaty and I adore the tiers (shocker, I know). The area by the shoulders is sheer so a strapless bra is a must, which I know some ladies find annoying, but it doesn't bother me. The material is very delicate, which makes is gorgeous but I am always nervous that I will snag dresses like this or ruin them in some way.

I know that Kim of Anthroholic is planning on wearing this for her birthday as well, which is the day before mine! I'm sure she will look absolutely gorgeous in it. ETA: Tien has also added in real life photos of this dress! So lovely. I think the color of the dress in her photos is a bit more accurate than mine.

The other item that caught my eye was the Dewbud Tee. I love the bright turquoise color and thought it would be perfect for my trip to St. Maarten.

The color is just as vibrant in real life and I love it. The knit is very soft and and the detailing is great. There is elastic right under the bust so I can see this working for a lot of different shapes. The cap sleeves are very perky and cute; I like them which is surprising because I don't like them in general. Sizing I find to be TTS to a bit big, I am wearing an XS in this. The elastic I think makes it flexible size wise, I think it will depend more on bust size than anything.

This top will pack nicely, not wrinkle, and be perfect to wear while relaxing by the beach!

  1. OMG!!!!! I'm so happy to see this dress and a review on it, I almost fell over Rosa!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it on you, and I'm so happy because it's just gorgeous in real life!!!
    Thank you for posting this.
I'm a little worried - do you think the 0 will fit me? I took a 0 in the Horizon Line, an xs in the Bold Boutonieere, but I'm concerned that you said it runs a bit small?

  2. Kim, I think you should be just fine! I took a 4 in the horizon line dress and this 4 ran just a smidge smaller than that.

  9. How tall are you Rosa? I am 5'8" and usually a 4, I am worried this dress will be too short on me :( But you look great in it!!

  16. The Dewbud tee is gorgeous on you! I'm glad I held off on ordering the Drifting By dress; I was going to order a 0, but now that you've said it runs small I think I'll size up. Good thing since the 0 is oos anyway! I'm going to order that Dewbud tee while I'm at it, too!
Btw, does anybody know how the birthday discount works? Do the email or snail mail you a code? My bday is in April, but I'm just wondering if I should hold off ordering until I get a code --depending on when it's sent.

  17. Ooh--the dress is so pretty on you...and perfect for your 25th birthday (yikes, you blogger ladies make me feel old!). I think it would be perfect with black tights if it's cold.

The top is also fantastic (though I don't think my upper arms would like those sleeves) and a great find for your trip. Have a great time.

  20. Whoops. I think I might be one of those few who didn't like the dress. I liked the style, just not the color. =P It looks great on you, though! Both things do, really!

Can't wait to see you style both items further (and for your bday)!

  21. Hi Rosa! I have been following your blog forever but haven't commented yet! I love your style :)

I'm wondering what size to buy the Drifting By dress in, and hoping you can help. I was a size 4 in the Horizon Line dress and I'm usually a size 4 in Floreat dresses, but I've taken a 6 in others (like the Night Blooming dress). My measurements are 34, 28, 36... what would you suggest? I have to pay shipping to get the dress all the way to Canada, so I like to research pieces before I spend a ton on shipping :) Thanks so much!!

  22. Oooh I'm finally getting what the fuss is over this dress! And I love the top on you. I loved it too in the catalog shots, but I expected it to be more teal than blue.

i hope i can try them on soon. i'm not sure about the dress on me just because i feel like my bust might get in the way.

  24. The dress is just LOVELY and I thinkit would great with black tights and some funky shoes. The dew top reminds me of the design of caftans sold in the medinas of Morocco. Lovely color and it just POPS on you.
