Warm Weather Essentials & Cute Nautical Stuff < $15

By this time next week, I'll be in St. Maarten sailing in the Heineken Regatta! I am super excited for this, and I can't wait to get a temporary respite from this brutal weather! Unfortunately I have almost no warm weather clothing with me in NYC right now, since I was planning on going back to Atlanta to switch out my winter clothes for my summer items before the weather changed for good. My usual sailing outfit = bathing suit + tank top + shorts + hat. I've got that covered but I'd love to have some cute lightweight outfits I can wear to the parties after the racing. Therefore today I did a quick drop in at H&M on my way home from lunch and found a few inexpensive items that are perfect for this trip that I can also wear this upcoming summer.

This striped top is very nautical and affordable at only $12.95. The denim shorts were only $9.95! I sized up in the top for a slouchy fit, and I feel like this would be a great outfit to relax in with a beer after a race.

Theses are called the boyfriend shorts, and I'm sure I'll get at least $10 worth of wear out of them.

This colorful tunic blouse was $12.95. I love the bright colors and the print is lovely in real life. I could also see this working with wide leg linen trousers in the summer (if I ever found a pair that would look good on me).

This simple knit dress was $14.95 and I feel like this would be a quick and easy swimsuit coverup. Also would be a great weekend dress during the hot summer, paired with a pair of gladiators or Jack Rogers Navajo sandals.

I probably won't bring this blue ruffle dress on my trip, but I couldn't resist it! I love the ruffles, the navy color, and it's very floaty and lightweight. And the price tag is even better. $9.95. That's right, under $10 for this dress! At first I thought it was mismarked, but I checked the others and it was the correct price! I added this fun Forever 21 belt (available in brown/black here) and I think it will be a cute look for spring.

Some cute nautical themed items under $15 that I <3:

I actually have this tote and I love it! It can be folded up real small into my purse and fits a TON, whether I'm shopping at F21 or at Trader Joe's. I don't believe in spending a lot for a reusable bag, so this is perfect!

So there we have it, everything in this post was under $15! I know the nautical look is ubiquitous this spring (as it is every year it seems) but I have always loved it, whether it is "in" or not. I find it to be refreshing and classic, and now that I'm about to go sailing next week I'm even more attracted to it!

ETA: I just finished watching women's figure skating and Kim Yu-Na was amazing!! It was the most amazing Olympic performance I have ever seen and I am so proud to be Korean at this moment. I was definitely tearing up during the national anthem. It was Korea's first medal in figure skating ever and it was GOLD! She is absolutely magical on the ice.

  1. Hi Rosa! Can I ask you where you got the ruffle dress, or which H&M? I love it! and for $9.95 I would love to get my hands on one! Did they have a lot left? Or any other colors? I also really like the denim shorts! But everything looks really cute on you =)

I only saw the navy one. I got it at the H&M at 86th St + Lex, and there were lots there.

My sandals are BCBG from Off 5th. I don't have a good pic of them now but I will try to post one next time!

I'm wearing my copycat snow outfit today - the M&O sweater with leggings - so cozy and I don't feel like a bum!

  15. I heart all things nautical too and veer towards anything with stripes.
Now I feel a little like a nautical poser, since you actually wear your stuff to go boating! :o)
So jealous - I've always wanted to try sailing.

  18. I swung by the H&M near Prince and Broadway during lunch and snagged the ruffle dress and the awesome tunic (which truly is lovelier in real life). It totally made trecking to work worth it today.

    Thanks Rosa!
